TWO AZERBAİJANİ BOXERS REACH THE FİNALS, ONE CLAİMS BRONZE AT THE EUROPEAN CHAMPİONSHİPS

The European Boxing Championships continue in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. Azerbaijan’s national team delivered another successful performance on the seventh day of competition.

Subhan Mamedov (50 kg) faced Samet Gümüş (Türkiye) in the semi-finals. Our world champion secured a 3–2 victory (30–27, 28–29, 30–27, 28–29, 29–28) to advance to the final. Mamedov will face Bair Batlayev (Russia) in the title bout on September 24.

Nabi Isgandarov (70 kg) also reached the final, defeating John McConnell (Ireland) 4–1 (29–28, 28–29, 29–28, 29–28, 29–28). The World Cup medallist will face Sergey Koldenkov (Russia) in the gold-medal bout on September 25.

Saidjamshid Jafarov (75 kg) continued his teammates’ success. The World Championships medallist won all three rounds against Kevin Scott (Sweden), securing a 5–0 victory (30–27, 30–27, 30–27, 30–27, 30–27). He will face Callum Makin (England) in the semi-finals on September 24.

Mahammad Abdullayev (+90 kg) faced Damar Thomas (England) in the semi-finals. With his opponent advancing to the final, our boxer claimed the bronze medal.

Today, two Azerbaijani boxers will compete in the semi-finals and one will contest a final.
