THREE MORE AZERBAİJANİ BOXERS REACH THE SEMİ-FİNALS AT THE EUROPEAN CHAMPİONSHİPS

The European Boxing Championships continue in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. Three more members of the Azerbaijani national team advanced to the semi-finals on the sixth day of competition.

Subhan Mamedov (50 kg) faced Istvan Szaka (Hungary) in the quarter-finals. Our world champion defeated his opponent 3–2 (28–29, 29–28, 29–28, 28–29, 29–28). He will face Samet Gümüş (Türkiye) in the semi-finals on September 23.

Amin Mammadzade (55 kg) also continued his winning streak, defeating Billal Bennama (France) 3–2 (28–29, 28–29, 30–27, 30–27, 29–28). He will face Viacheslav Rogozin (Russia) in the semi-finals on September 24.

Mahammad Abdullayev (+90 kg) also secured victory. The World Cup winner eliminated Omar Shiha (Norway) with a 3–2 win (28–29, 29–28, 30–27, 28–29, 29–28). Abdullayev will face Damar Thomas (England) in the semi-finals on September 23.

All four Azerbaijani boxers who have reached the semi-finals have guaranteed themselves at least a bronze medal. Today, Nabi Isgandarov (70 kg) will also face John McConnell (Ireland) in the semi-finals, while Saidjamshid Jafarov (75 kg) will take on Kevin Scott (Sweden) in the quarter-finals.

The championships will conclude on September 25.
