Three more Azerbaijani boxers reach the quarter-finals at the European Championships
The European Boxing Championships continue in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. Three more members of the Azerbaijani national team advanced on the fourth day of competition.
Subhan Mamedov (50 kg) faced Emanuel Koça (Albania) in the round of 16. Our world champion secured a 5–0 victory (30–27, 30–26, 30–27, 30–27, 30–27). He will face Istvan Szaka (Hungary) in his next bout.
Malik Hasanov (65 kg) also reached the quarter-finals. The European Championships medallist eliminated Rumen Rumenov (Bulgaria) in his second bout, winning by referee stoppage in the first round. Hasanov will face Elvin Aliyev (Ukraine) in his third bout.
Mahammad Abdullayev (+90 kg) also made a successful start to the competition. The World Cup winner defeated Nikolai Burdiuja (Moldova) by referee stoppage in the third round of their round-of-16 bout. He will face Omar Shiha (Norway) in the quarter-finals.
All three bouts will take place on September 22.
Two other Azerbaijani boxers had already secured their places in the quarter-finals of the championships, which will conclude on September 25.
